Anyone make it to the Aldi this morning?

I took Anna and Sammy to the Aldi that opened this morning in West Orange County. I was more interested in seeing if they were giving anything away, even coupons, but wasn’t expecting to find any. With that mind set, I was not disappointed when the only handouts were this week’s special’s flier. However, it seemed that they had all of their employees in the store, which by the way, was jammed packed with a mixture of curiosity seekers and shopper pushing their half to full cart along the aisles.

I met a person in the parking lot who forgot to use her $5.00/$30.00 coupon. With my prodding, she turned around and we walked back to the store. She admitted that she wouldn’t give up her regular shopping habit, and only came here to get $30.00 in products so she could get the discount. She asked one of the greeters at the front door and they said to talk to the manager, and pointed the person out. I tagged along but far enough away to not be “right there”. The manager had no problem giving her a $5.00 bill out of the drawer.

Because of the packed aisles and the fact that I had both Sammy and Anna in tow, I decided to get out of there.

For the people that are curious, based on the amount of people that have asked, the sign shown in the photo is an “Opening Soon” and job info banner. The banner has now been fixed and the “Opening Soon” portion has been removed and the “Now Open” underneath it is now showing.

More Grand Opening Love From Aldi…

I just found a Grand Opening postcard from Aldi in my mailbox. The postcard has basic store info, but what was really nice was the $5/$30 coupon valid from August 19-29.

Aldi $5/$30 Coupon in August 18 Orlando Sentinel

If not for the Albertsons $5/$50 coupon, here is another reason to head on down to the corner market, which around here usually means the 7-Eleven, CVS, or Wags, and look at today’s Orlando Sentinel.

If you are lucky enough to live near one of these Aldi stores:

Leesburg: 2241 North Citrus Blvd
Winter Garden: 14001 West Colonial Drive
Orlando: 7031 Narcoossee Road

there should be a $5.00/$30.00 coupon on the back page of their insert. This coupon is valid 8/19-8/28.

If you are tired of driving to the corner market just to purchase the Orlando Sentinel, why not sign up for home delivery (at up to 65% OFF)?

Read this POST from the other day for all the details.

Have a great day today, and I will have Albertsons, Winn-Dixie, Publix deals with match-ups online soon.

West Orange County Readers, Aldi opens 8/19

If you are curious about what Aldi is like, the one located at 14001 W. Colonial Drive in Winter Garden, will have their Grand Opening on August 19, 2010. I have no idea at this moment what they will do, if anything they will be doing besides opening the doors at their normal time of 9:00 AM.

This Aldi has gone in to half a space that was formerly leased by Publix (which opened a new store across Colonial Drive). But I have watched them as Aldi built the “cinder block” wall and converted the space into their own. Can’t tell you if I am going to be there on Opening Day or not, but I will try.

I will post some other photos later tonight.

Do you plan to at least go and walk around this store? I might go on opening day to see what goes on during opening day, if anything.
