The Fine Print

For a couple of year’s now we have received a couple of the Albertsons inserts in the mail. All you had to do was fax them a form and they would add you to the list. Today we received the above letter in our mail box (click to see larger view).

Though the letter above states that “Albertsons in concerned about protecting the enviroment…” I bet you that in reality the amount that they are paying in just postage is far and away more than the mailings brought in weekly via the mailings. Everyone that I know that receive the inserts via the Post Office have not stepped foot in an Albertsons in many months.

So basically the letter states that we will no longer be receiving the inserts via snail mail, but instead if we hand over an email address, they will add us to the VIP First Look program, and email us the same information. What will be interesting is if they kill off the coupon all together or they make it something that you have to visit coupons.com or similar service to be able to print out.

If they simply have the coupon as part of the email, and you can print 1 to as many as you wish, well, Publix simply has to say, “No More Albertsons Coupons”. In the past they could at least tell it was from an insert.

I received an email from a PR rep at Time Inc (they publish All You Magazine for WalMart). They sent me a sneak peek of the coupons that are included in the upcoming April issue, set to hit newstands, OK, your nearest WalMart on Friday, March 25th.

If you are lucky enough to live within 5 miles or so of an Albertsons, there should be a $5.00/$50.00 coupon on the front page of their insert. This coupon is valid 1/7-9 (Friday, Saturday and Sunday).

If you are tired of driving to the corner market just to purchase the Orlando Sentinel, why not sign up for home delivery (at up to 65% OFF)?

You might be asking yourself, “How did Mark find out about this coupon?”. Here is how I did it, I went to the customer service counter at the Albertsons near Windermere, and asked for the form to fill out so that I could receive the weekly newspaper insert. I filled out the form right there, and THEY FAXED it to Boise, ID. It takes 2-3 weeks or so to receive the first copy. USUALLY the insert will arrive in our physical mailbox on either Monday or Tuesday. Sometimes it is not there until Wednesday. Which ever insert is in the Orlando Sentinel, that is the insert that I receive.

The Children’s Osocillium didn’t work this morning so beware, but the Finish deal did.
